Common questions about our broadband.
Will I actually get this speed?
The figure we quote is the peak speed of the line into your home. Broadband is a shared network, so at the busiest times of day you may not see the full headline figure. That's true of every provider - we'd rather say so than pretend otherwise.
You'll also usually measure less over Wi-Fi than you would plugged straight into the router with a cable. That's the wireless signal inside your home, not the line coming into it.
Every plan we sell has far more bandwidth than you need for streaming, video calls and gaming. So if something feels slow, Wi-Fi coverage is the usual culprit - and that's fixable. Give us a call and we can fit a booster.
Will I really never see a mid-contract price rise?
That's our promise. The price you agree to when you sign up is fixed for the full length of your contract term - no inflation-linked or "market adjustment" increases part way through.
How do I know which network I'll be connected over?
It depends on what's been built at your address. Use our availability checker and we'll tell you whether you're on Openreach, CityFibre, or our own Up North Fibre network - the service and support you get is identical either way.
Is there a contract, and how long is it?
Most plans are available on 12 or 24 month terms. We'll always be upfront about contract length and any early termination charges before you sign up.
Do I need to supply my own router?
No - a full-fibre router is included with every plan and set up as part of your installation.
Alternatively advanced users can be supported with a wires-only service, available at checkout.
What if full-fibre isn't available at my address yet?
Use the availability checker to register your interest. We're always expanding our network, particularly on our own Up North Fibre build, and we'll let you know as soon as your address is ready.
